Bad habits that damage your vehicle’s engine

Damage to the engine is relatively easy, so I am going to tell you 7 things you should not do, so that your engine can have a long life and you can avoid expensive repairs in the long run.

1 Only water in the radiator

I know we’ve talked about this a lot, but just pouring water into the radiator causes clogging, radiator and water pump rust, and that’s why we don’t recommend doing it.

This happens a lot when there is a small amount of antifreeze in the car and many people fill it with water, what will happen is that it will be diluted too much and only water will remain at the end. 

2 Not warming up the engine in the morning

A lot of people do this, and the problem is that they don’t let the engine reach a good temperature, and that’s why it generates pulling and all kinds of things. This happens because there is not enough temperature for the components to work properly, and this damages the engine and transmission slowly, so don’t do it.

3 Not using the right oil

Many people do not pay attention to this detail. Remember that oil is the life of the engine and metal parts, new cars are specially designed to work with oils of a certain thickness, so if you have a new car, follow the instructions and your engine will last a long time, and do not pour oil of different thicknesses just to save money.

4 Fast driving

Many people, especially young people, want to go fast everywhere, get there first and feel the power of the engine on the road.The truth is that going fast without necessity damages the engine faster, this means that if it was going to last 5 years, maybe it will last a little less or certain things will be damaged faster.

5 Driving over many holes or potholes

This is something that many people who have a rustic car do, I do not recommend you to do it, remember that many of the new cars are compact, this means that they support less the holes and that kind of things. They also damage the engine mounts, and when the engine has bad mounts, the vibration is unbearable and it gets damaged.

6 Low and poor quality gasoline

I know people who love to run with little fuel. This, besides damaging the fuel pump, also damages the engine, and it is a habit that you should eliminate.

There are also some cases of very bad quality gasoline or with lead, I recommend you to avoid this because of the contamination and because everything will clog less quickly.

7 Ignoring the engine light

If that light is on, it must be for some reason. That’s why I always recommend scanning, taking a day to do maintenance, and especially to take it to be checked. If you don’t notice anything unusual and the light is still on, it could be that the computer has a defect.

But never ignore the dashboard lights because they are really important, it is the way a car communicates with you.
